According to Cherokee legend, wolves had special healing powers. They often helped wounded warriors and were the hunters and watchdogs of Kanati (The Luck Hunter). The Wolf People or “Ani Waya” were reported to have healed the wounded in many legends and could shift from wolf to human form when needed.
